Tanglin Trust School has begun the academic year with an inspiring new addition to its campus with the launch of its brand new Junior Arts Centre. Officially opened on 20 August 2025, this state-of-the-art building is designed to nurture creativity, encourage collaboration, and provide students with the very best opportunities to explore the arts.

Tanglin’s new Junior Arts Centre brings together a host of inspiring spaces designed to spark creativity and collaboration. The Junior drama department now has its own Black Box Theatre and rehearsal studio, while dance takes its place in the Tanglin curriculum for the first time with a professional studio complete with sprung floor. Bright, airy art rooms invite exploration, and the music department has been transformed with four dedicated classrooms and spacious rehearsal areas.

At the heart of the building sits the J:Hub, a fantastic new collaborative forum where pupils and teachers can come together to share ideas, stage open-mic sessions, and enjoy informal music, drama, and storytelling during playtimes.

Just as impressive is the two-storey Junior Library, home to more than 10,000 books. Bright and welcoming, it features cosy reading alcoves and a Story House, where children can relax, read aloud, and meet visiting authors.

The Junior Arts Centre also houses a Junior Athletic Development Gym, offering a dedicated space for pupils to build balance, coordination, and core strength.

Clair Harrington-Wilcox, Head of the Junior School, describes the vision behind the Centre: “The Junior Arts Centre was born from a simple yet powerful idea: that every child deserves a space to express themselves freely and creatively. Whether through painting, sculpting, music, dance, theatre, or digital arts, this Centre will be a home for exploration and growth.”

The official opening was celebrated with performances and demonstrations across the new facilities, but the true excitement lies ahead – in the everyday opportunities the new Junior Arts Centre will offer Tanglin children as they discover their voices, unlock their talents, and flourish through the arts.
