Nurturing scholarship, curiosity & compassion in Senior School

NLCS Senior School Singapore

NLCS Senior School Singapore

As North London Collegiate School (Singapore) celebrates the extraordinary 175-year heritage of its founding school in the UK, the Senior School continues to embody the spirit of scholarship, innovation, and community that defines the NLCS ethos. While our school in Singapore is new and dynamic, our mission remains constant: to foster a love of learning, to nurture character, and to equip students with the skills and confidence to thrive in an ever-changing world.

A Vision for Senior School

At the heart of the Senior School experience is the NLCS philosophy of providing “floors, not ceilings.” Students are encouraged to reach beyond expectations, to question deeply, and to approach challenges with creativity and resilience. With the appointment of our new Senior School Principal, Mrs Sarah Richardson, this vision is being strengthened through a renewed emphasis on intellectual risk-taking, independent thinking, and the pursuit of personal passions.

Sarah shares: “Alongside an exceptional team of educators, I am committed to ensuring that every student feels known, supported, and empowered, academically, socially, and personally.”

This ethos ensures that students leave NLCS not only with outstanding academic outcomes, but also with the confidence and adaptability to contribute meaningfully to the world.

Enrichment Beyond the Classroom

The Senior School thrives on opportunities for learning that extend beyond traditional lessons. From the renowned McCabe Lectures to student-led societies and leadership opportunities, every pupil is invited to explore their interests widely and deeply. Whether in debating, research, service projects, or the arts, these experiences develop critical skills of collaboration, empathy,
and leadership. As our Senior School parents shared:

“NLCS instills a genuine love of learning in our children, sparking their curiosity and fostering a lifelong passion for gaining knowledge… The supportive and caring environment ensures our children feel valued and encouraged, both academically and personally” – Kevin and Joanne Augenstein

A Community Rooted in Care

At NLCS (Singapore), community is central. Families, staff, and students work in partnership, creating a culture where every voice is heard and every child is supported. From academic mentoring to wellbeing initiatives, the Senior School ensures that students flourish both in their studies and as individuals. This nurturing environment is what allows pupils to take risks, to
grow with confidence, and to truly see the school as a “second home.”

As the Senior School continues its journey, Sarah’s leadership promises to build on strong foundations and inspire future generations.
