Exploring the Queenstown & Red Hill neighbourhoods
In Singapore, 80% of the population live in public housing. The estates are designed for self-sufficiency, with amenities so well planned that residents rarely need to leave their neighbourhood for daily essentials. On this tour, we’ll visit two areas to see how locals live, shop and eat.
Our first stop is Queenstown, the oldest HDB development in the Lion City, though you’d never guess it from the sleek new blocks around you. We’ll explore two of the most sought-after new developments, both located next to a park and recognised with numerous architecture awards locally and internationally.
After taking the MRT to Redhill, we’ll stop for drinks at a hawker centre and visit an award-winning building housing various voluntary welfare organisations. There’s also some lovely cafes and shops run by local charities to check out.
