Committee Member Nomination: Naomi Luckett
Naomi’s Bio: My name is Naomi and I’m a Kiwi from Mount Maunganui volunteering for a role on the Exec Committee of ANZA. I have two grown and flown kids in NZ, my son studying at Otago Uni and my daughter at Auckland. I came to Singapore as a trailing spouse to my husband Gianluca (Italian). This is our second stint in Singapore, our first stay having been rudely interrupted by Covid.
I have a background in emergency response and crisis communications and have also served on several boards and executive committees. I have enjoyed many ANZA walks, coffees, lunches and events over the past few years, making many friends along the way. Being an expat can be tough and ANZA was a lifeline for me, especially while navigating an empty nest, being a DP and during Covid.
Why I’d like to sit on the ANZA Executive Committee 2023: I feel I have a lot to offer to the organization. As well as my skills and professional experience; the many years I’ve spent as an expat (in Europe, China and the Middle East) mean that I understand the many challenges that families and individuals face on their expat journey. In addition, I’m fiercely proud of being a Kiwi and think that the NZ and Australian community also have a lot to offer to Singapore.
ANZA is an exceptional organization with a long history of supporting its members, but depends on its members to be active participants, hosting walks, coffee mornings and taking part in activities and events. I hope to contribute to making members feel part of the community, helping newcomers settle and feel like there is a little slice of home and manaakitanga in ANZA, that they can in turn give back in their new home, Singapore.
