Hotspots: Peter Rabbit Afternoon Tea at SKAI
For the uninitiated, who is Peter Rabbit, and why are we having tea with him?
He’s only one of our childhood faves and one of Britain’s most iconic book characters – Beatrix Potter’s cheeky little bunny in a blue coat. He’s forever sneaking into Mr McGregor’s garden for a nibble.
Is he an old dude …?
We can’t deny he’s not getting on a bit. The Tale of Peter Rabbit was first published in 1902 and has charmed generations with its cuteness, mischief, and timeless illustrations ever since. SKAI at Swissôtel The Stamford has now transformed this classic story into a very cool and creative high tea with a grown-up twist.
Wait – are we actually eating Peter?!
No! But this chic afternoon tea isn’t just about tiered trays and finger sandwiches. Executive Chef Seumas Smith and Executive Pastry Chef Yong Ming Choong have taken Beatrix Potter’s characters and garden settings and turned them into edible art. The result is fun and refined nibbles with lovely nods to the stories we grew up with, and that children worldwide still grow up with today. It’s nostalgic without being twee, and polished without being pretentious.
It sounds adorable! What are we dining on – carrots?
Let’s start savoury. Mr McGregor’s Garden Sandwich is a soft seeded number layered with beef brisket and miso – rich, satisfying, and gently earthy, just like the story’s vegetable patch. Fisherman’s Haven is a gentle bite of Petrosino smoked salmon with cucumber and horseradish crème, inspired by the amphibious adventures of Mr Jeremy Fisher. There’s also a coronation smoked chicken vol-au-vent – named for Mrs Tiggy-Winkle’s picnic pie – alongside a tiny tartlet of foie gras and apple that pays homage to Mr McGregor’s orchard. It is beyond!
We can’t take the cuteness!
Oh, there’s more! Things get even sweeter with dessert. Flopsy’s Berry Basket bursts with blueberries and edible flowers, Peter’s Garden Treat is a indeed a carrot and cinnamon cake topped with bunny ears, and a printed macaron featuring Peter himself balances cassis with vanilla. Of course, there are also freshly baked raisin and vanilla scones, served warm with jam and Devonshire clotted cream, because it’s not an English tea without them.
Did you have a favourite nibble?
We loved the quirky chocolate pot filled with gelato, citrus confit and cocoa soil, designed to look like a real miniature garden. A nice touch is that it’s presented complete with flowers from the hotel’s rooftop aquaponics farm. The kind of creation you almost feel bad digging into … almost.

The Mischief in the Garden cocktail (may cause mischief out of a garden, too)
What about drinks?
There’s the usual line-up of TWG teas and Suzuki coffee, but the themed drinks are worth a sip. Flopsy’s Blossom Fizz is a floral mocktail with peach purée, coconut and blue pea water that’s just as pretty as it sounds. If you’re celebrating, the Mischief in the Garden cocktail – with vodka, carrot, orange, lemon, and honey-ginger syrup – is earthy, zingy, and comes complete with a carrot stirrer and a sugar disc of Peter’s face floating on top.
This is an afternoon tea for adults and children, yes?
Kids aged six and up will love this concept, whether they know who Peter Rabbit is or not. It’s just so … darling. When we visited, the SKAI Bar was packed with adults marvelling over the miniature morsels, but it would work splendidly for families too. It would also suit a special occasion, especially if you’re after something that feels a little different from the usual hotel afternoon tea. The attention to detail, paired with the incredible views of MBS from the 70th floor, make this a very memorable few hours indeed.
What else should we know?
Make sure you book up! Originally set to run until the end of June, the Peter Rabbit Afternoon Tea has proved so popular it’s now extended through to 31 July 2025. Prices are S$68++ per adult and S$34++ per child (aged 6–12), including tea or coffee. With smooth service, skyline drama, and just the right amount of whimsy to make you smile, hop to it – this is one tea party worth thumping your feet about.
