Keith was a Parent Coach from 2005 – 2017, and ANZA Soccer Treasurer and Committee Member from 2009-2020. “Since joining the ANZA Soccer committee Keith has helped to steer the club through a few tumultuous times over the years. Keith has been instrumental in building the league to bring it where it is today, delivering quality soccer programs to more than 800 girls and boys,” says ANZA GM Kerry Low. “His passion and dedication to ANZA Soccer epitomises volunteerism. He stayed on a full three years after his boys finished playing!”
Keith’s sons’ William and Andrew played for ANZA from U8s to U18s and grew up with the club. Andrew won MVP for the U18 SEA Cup in 2016. “I first joined ANZA in 2005 as a newbie to Singapore,” says Keith. “I signed my two enthusiastic footballing sons up to ANZA Soccer and arrived at Turf City where ANZA were then playing on the grass pitches now occupied by Tanglin Rugby Club. There were no astro pitches in those days! We all joined the Bombers – my boys as players and myself as assistant coach.”
Over the years, ANZA Soccer’s camaraderie and team spirit has kept the family involved in the sport. “My highlights were spending valuable time coaching and watching my kids play, enjoying exciting and competitive matches and meeting so many nice people along the way,” says Keith. “I was fortunate to have the support of an outstanding and committed coaching team, led by Head Coach Yakob, a fantastic hard-working soccer committee of like-minded volunteer parents, and an ANZA office of friendly and efficient people. Many will be friends for a long time to come.”
The ANZA Soccer committee organised an online farewell for Keith, with a touching photo montage looking back at his time with the club, including videos from people he volunteered with over the past 15 years.
Thanks for your incredible service to ANZA Soccer Keith, and good luck in your new adventures!
