Celebrate Halloween the Irish way in Singapore!

Did you know Halloween originated in Ireland? Long before jack-o’-lanterns and candy buckets, the Irish celebrated Samhain (pronounced “Sow-in”) a 2,000-year-old harvest festival marking the end of summer and the start of winter. Fires blazed, friends gathered, and tables overflowed with the best produce of the season.

This October, Bord Bia (The Irish Food Board) is bringing that spirit – and a little Celtic magic  – to Singapore with A Taste of Ireland: Samhain Edition, running from now until 15 November 2025. The month-long culinary campaign invites diners to celebrate the origins of Halloween through exclusive Irish-inspired creations at some of Singapore’s top restaurants, including Boaters Bar, Carnaby, Cygnet by Sean Connolly, UMMI Beirut, Morsels, and Brasserie Astoria.

Think of it as Halloween for grown-ups. No tricks, just delectable Irish treats.

Carnaby – A Quacking Good Time

Over at Carnaby, Chef Adam Penney puts a cheeky spin on harvest season with two limited-edition creations. The What’s the Quack? ($38) is a perfectly crisp confit duck leg from the Irish Duck Company, served with creamy colcannon, charred sprouts, wild blackberries, and a hot honey-thyme jus. It’s autumn on a plate – hearty, rich, and just the right side of indulgent. Pair it with the Shanky Panky ($22), a cocktail of Born Irish Whiskey, Shanky Whip, Campari, and blood orange bitters that tastes like a mischievous Halloween night in Dublin.

Boaters Bar – Spirits of the Sea

At Singapore’s only floating bar, Boaters Bar at ONE°15 Marina Sentosa Cove, Ireland’s famed land-and-sea connection comes alive. The Char-Grilled Irish Oysters ($16++ for 2) are flame-grilled over open fire, kissed with herb butter, and finished with a sprinkle of sea salt – smoky, briny perfection. Then there’s the Irish Duck Breast ($38++), served with Blackpitts orange reduction, red wine pear, and velvety mash. It’s a dish that’s equal parts comfort and sophistication and the kind of meal that makes you want to toast the harvest moon.

UMMI Beirut – Soul Food with Irish Spirit

UMMI Beirut takes the warmth of family dining and infuses it with Irish quality and flair. Its four-course A Taste of Ireland menu ($88++ per person, served for two) opens with Lebanese Lentil Soup Shots, Silky Hummus Beiruti, and Ostra Regal Oysters topped with pomegranate molasses. The main – 7 Spices Duck Leg with Orange Glaze, grilled cabbage, and preserved fennel – is a feast of colour and comfort. Finish with Cannoli Baklawa, yoghurt, and Irish ice cream – a sweet ending to a menu crafted with Halal-certified ingredients and motherly care.

Cygnet by Sean Connolly – Fireside Feasting

At Cygnet, the moody bar-and-grill at QT Singapore, Irish comfort food gets a luxe makeover. The Irish Fillet ($68) rests atop buttery colcannon and is crowned with a silky whiskey cream sauce – the kind of dish you want to savour slowly as shadows lengthen and glasses clink.

Brasserie Astoria — A Harvest in Full Bloom

Within the grandeur of Victoria Theatre, Brasserie Astoria has launched a refined new dish that pays tribute to the harvest season. The Aged Irish Duck is paired with browned butter hollandaise, salad verte with Parmesan, and spicy pommes frites. The result is a sophisticated nod to the abundance that defines Ireland’s autumn tables, perfectly suited to the restaurant’s elegant surroundings.

From ocean-fresh oysters to hearty duck and tender Irish beef, A Taste of Ireland: Samhain Edition celebrates the ancient roots of Halloween while showcasing the magic of modern Irish produce. So, this spooky season, skip the candy corn and head for something far more bewitching – a Samhain feast that honours where Halloween truly began: Ireland. Savour the flavours of Ireland until 15 November 2025 at Cygnet, Carnaby, UMMI Beirut, Boaters’ Bar at ONE°15 Sentosa Cove, Brasserie Astoria, and Morsels. It’s a feast worth haunting for – where every bite tells a ghost story of Ireland’s harvest past.
