Committee Member Nomination: Phillip Simmonds
Phil’s Bio: Originally from Sydney, I’ve lived and worked in Singapore for the past 13 years. While I miss the beaches, Asia has become home to me. Having worked here for so many years, I’ve been able to travel throughout the region and beyond looking for new business and collaboration opportunities. I’ve also met some inspiring people in a variety of cultural backgrounds. The two sports I enjoy most, cricket and surfing, have enabled me to travel the world outside business hours. After settling in Singapore, I enjoy spending time with my family and participating in a variety of business chambers and sports clubs.
Why I’d like to sit on the Executive Committee in 2023: ANZA has been a part of my life since arriving in Singapore, and I’ve met a lot of other members through networking events, celebrations, and sports teams. It is my belief that the ANZA’s purpose is to serve and support the local and expat communities here. As a resident for thirteen years, I feel I can share my experiences and contribute to a more inclusive environment. Lastly, I hope to contribute to the committee, learn from and be inspired by the current members. The opportunity to interact with diverse individuals in a team environment for the betterment of current and future members seems extremely rewarding.
My goal for ANZA in the year ahead is to gain a clearer and deeper understanding of the issues faced by their members and how they can be addressed. Additionally, I would like to gain an understanding of the broader community’s challenges, and how ANZA can connect and engage with them, converting them into active and contributing members. My goal is also to contribute to creating a better member experience, and to celebrate 70+ years of success.
