Sunday Competition Teams Program
ANZA Soccer Competition Teams represent ANZA Soccer in JSSL League competitions.
Placement onto competition teams is subject to player grading, carried out by professional coaches.
Players who wish to participate must make payment of the Sunday competition registration fee when signing up for the Saturday League, as competition teams will be determined very early in the season. Refunds for the competition team fee will be payable only in the odd instance that a player cannot be accommodated within the competition teams.
The competition fee includes competition kit (jersey, shorts and socks), external league registration fees and competition team training, which occurs once or twice a week (depending on the programme signed up for).
ANZA Soccer Competition League Teams represent ANZA Soccer in the JSSL National Youth Leagues, playing typically 5-10 matches on Sundays within 10 weeks from Sept-Dec and Jan-May.
All of the information for the JSSL League can be found on their website.
Age groups for JSSL Leagues are across 1 full birth year. These namings are DIFFERENT than SATURDAY LEAGUE NAMES (E.g. A 2012 girl born would be Saturday Mixed Group 11 and for Competition League – she would be Girls 13, for instance)

2024-25 ANZA Soccer Trials/team formation and competition information
NB: Trials are only available for players who are registered prior to the trial dates.
Placement onto competition teams is subject to player grading, carried out by professional coaches. Each player is typically selected first from the SATURDAY LEAGUE and then called up to play in our competition league teams.
Teams are selected before each season (selection in August and selection in Dec/Jan) and based on mandatory trials for returning and new competition players.
Information about the Team Formation and Grading Sessions
We will be holding team formation and grading sessions for each age group as listed above. It is a requirement that players attend ALL sessions, however, we understand that some families are away on school holidays, so please advise your Competition Coordinator if you are unable to make any of these dates.
These sessions will be overseen by Head Coach Yakob and his team of professional coaches. Please ensure you arrive 15 minutes prior to your session for registration to ensure a prompt start.
ANZA Soccer Sunday competition teams are representative teams, hence, teams will be formed based on positional requirements, skill level and ability. Therefore, friendships and siblings may be separated into the different Sunday teams. If you require placement in a specific team due to siblings or friendships, please let us know, but it may require the more skilled player playing in a lower team.
Teams will be finalized in early September and parents will be emailed team placement.
Competition fees will be refunded for players who are not selected. Please note, competition fees will NOT be refunded after the team lists have been emailed.
We remind parents that our Sunday teams are representative teams competing against other external academies and players are part of a squad and unlike our Saturday program, they are not guaranteed a minimum playing time for each match. Our policy on pitch times for our Sunday teams can be found here.
Where / What to bring and what to wear
Players should bring plenty of water and have sunscreen and insect repellent applied if necessary. Please wear your ANZA soccer competition kit (yellow shirt), if you have one, or appropriate soccer attire, soccer boots and compulsory shin guards.
Wet Weather
We will not be updating a weather board for these sessions. The training will take place on astro turf pitches, and can be conducted during rain. However, in the instance of lightning – the session will be stopped and will recommence once it is safe.
Training /Coaching for JSSL Competition teams
Competition team training sessions are mandatory. Should players be unable to attend a session they must inform the Coach/Team Manager.
Can you take a role?
Part of the success and spirit of ANZA Soccer is driven by our volunteer ethos. Volunteer parent coaches and team managers will be required. Please let your Competition coordinator know if you are able to take on one of these rewarding roles.
Competition Kits
The new competition kit will be made available in September and distributed to players via the team managers.
If you have any questions or unable to attend any of the sessions, please email your relevant Age Group Competition Co-ordinator.
