Sunday Competition Teams Participation

Sunday Competition Teams Program

ANZA Soccer Competition Teams represent ANZA Soccer in JSSL League competitions.

Placement onto competition teams is subject to player grading, carried out by professional coaches.

Players who wish to participate must make payment of the Sunday competition registration fee (S$650) when signing up for the Saturday League, as competition teams will be determined very early in the season. Refunds for the competition team fee will be payable only in the odd instance that a player cannot be accommodated within the competition teams.

The competition fee includes competition kit (jersey, shorts and socks), external league  registration fees and competition team training, which occurs once a week.

ANZA Soccer Competition Teams represent ANZA Soccer in the JSSL National Youth Leagues, playing three out of four Sundays (Division 1) or on average every second Sunday (Division 2 and below). We may also have a few teams in the ESPZEN league, details to be advised depending on the outcome of player tryouts.

All of the information for the JSSL League can be found on their website or by downloading the JSSL app.

Except for B17’s (2005/06), Boys age groups for JSSL Leagues are across 1 full birth year  (note, this is different from ANZA Soccer’s Saturday age groups).

2022-23 ANZA Soccer Trials/team formation and competition information

NB: Trials are only available for players who are registered prior to the trial dates.

Trials are held over a number of weeks from August 13 to ensure the best teams are selected and to ensure our teams are ready for our first competition games in early September.

Information about the Team Formation and Grading Sessions

We will be holding team formation and grading sessions for each age group as listed above.  It is a requirement that players attend ALL sessions, however, we understand that some families are away on school holidays, so please advise your Competition Coordinator if you are unable to make any of these dates.

These sessions will be overseen by Head Coach Yakob and his team of professional coaches.  Please ensure you arrive 15 minutes prior to your session for registration to ensure a prompt start.

ANZA Soccer Sunday competition teams are representative teams, hence, teams will be formed based on positional requirements, skill level and ability.   Therefore, friendships and siblings may be separated into the different Sunday teams.   If you require placement in a specific team due to siblings or friendships, please let us know, but it may require the more skilled player playing in a lower team.

Teams will be finalized in early September and parents will be emailed team placement.

Competition fees will be refunded for players who are not selected. Please note, competition fees will NOT be refunded after the team lists have been emailed.

We remind parents that our Sunday teams are representative teams competing against other external academies and players are part of a squad and unlike our Saturday program, they are not guaranteed a minimum playing time in these matches.

Trials for the 2022-23 season were completed early September 2022 and further registrations during the season are only after invitation by the age group’s Competition Team Coordinator. Registration is via the ANZA Office.

Where / What to bring and what to wear

All sessions will take place on the ANZA Soccer fields @ The Cage Sports Park, Turf City.  Players should bring plenty of water and have sunscreen and insect repellent applied if necessary.  Please wear your ANZA soccer competition kit (yellow shirt), if you have one, or appropriate soccer attire, soccer boots and compulsory shin guards.

Wet Weather

We will not be updating a weather board for these sessions.  The training will take place on astro turf pitches, and can be conducted during rain. However, in the instance of lightning – the session will be stopped and will recommence once it is safe.
